WHAT IS
LEISHMANIASIS?

It is an infectious parasitic disease that is transmitted through the bite of the phlebotominae mosquito. It is a very serious disease that can have fatal consequences if it is not detected in time.

Weight loss and loss of appetite

Kidney problems

Skin inflammation and loss of hair

HOW TO AVOID INFECTION

Put an anti-parasitic collar on your dog or use pipettes or aerosols that repel phlebotominae.

During the warmer months, avoid sunset or night time walks.

If your dog sleeps outdoors, protect them with a mosquito net. The holes should be less than 2 mm.

Vaccination against leishmaniasis. It is given in three doses and must be renewed annually.

WHAT IS THE TREATMENT

LEISHMANIASIS?

Your dog will have to live with the disease for the rest of their life, because there is no cure. However, there are treatments that make it more difficult for the parasite to grow and lessen the harm that it may cause your dog. For this reason, it is best to avoid infection.
